MESSAGES OF HURT

Twice Vincent Van Gogh suffered major rejections of his love. The first had marked him bitterly, leaving him to often assert, "Woman is just man's desolation." But his passion and feeling for his next love - the love that drove him - changed him to quote a line of Michelet's: "A woman must breathe on you for you to be a man." Yet her only reply was, "No; never, never."

Now his spirit looks back - and still he weeps.

"Hey, snot nose, are you liberal yet?"

"Was selfishness everything it was cracked up to be?"

"Wish I could live a lie like everyone else!"

"The difference between a woman and a girl is that a woman knows the difference between a guy who needs her and a guy who needs to use her."

"Hey, honey, did selling yourself short get you where you wanted?"

"You are still so-o-o-o beautiful to me."

"Did all your things make you happy? Your precious car and house and marriage and approval - all the things you sold your soul for?"

"Did turning your back on me save you like you thought it would?"

"Here's you: "Oh, I'm nobody! I'm just a girl." Do you really believe God put you here to say that?"

"All that work you did to live a lie! Does it seem so damn noble now?"

"The world is not going to hell because it's full of caring people. Does their approval really mean so much to you?"

"Do you still remember the dreams you had? The ones of love and bliss? Did clinging to your illusions bring them about?"

""I'm happy! I'm happy!" she insisted. Are you going to make your kids lie about how they feel, too? Asshole!

"I never knew what 'dreamy' meant until I met you."

"How many other people did you go out of your way to tell you were not their friend?"

"Marriage isn't about what you get, it's about what you create."

"Who can you tell the truth to after putting so much of your pride on the line?"

"Not only do you think it's okay for a guy to do your thinking for you, you expect him to."

"Now I see why you were so down on yourself. I saw the things you could do but you knew the things you would do."

"Have you realized yet that silence is a cancer?"

"The difference between someone who needs you and someone who needs to use you is the difference between Life and Death.

"Is kissing your husband's ass the only way you two can stay together? (Or does him kissing your ass make it all okay?)"

"If you're not your own person, then what are you?"

"You're like someone who has a million dollars in the bank but refuses to buy food. It's not that can't feed yourself, but that you won't. Of course, if you go on choosing the lie you have no worth your soul will never be fed."

"You will always be like family to me."

"Do you want someone to love or someone to worship?"

"Why were you so quick to deny I needed you?"

"I hope someday you need a certain someone - just so you can see what it's like."

Debby says: "I'll do anything but speak to you."
